Enjoy the music of Greenstone at Daniell Park in Laurium on Thursday, July 1. Free outdoor evening concerts are held each Thursday evening in July & August from 7 to 8:30 pm at Daniell Park at 3rd and Pewabic Streets in Laurium. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket.

In case of rain, concerts will be held at the George Gipp Arena. Donations and proceeds from concessions go toward future concerts.

The McLain State Park Exploring Nature Program presents "Fabulous Frogs & Terrific Toads" at 1 pm on Thursday, July 1 at McLain State Park on M-203 between Hancock & Calumet.

 

Learn all about these wonderful creatures and be able to identify the species found in Michigan by sight and the calls they make.

Programs last approximately one hour and commence at the main shelter/picnic area of the park unless otherwise stated. Programs are free to the public, but a motor vehicle permit is required for entry to the park.

Armed with magnifying glasses we will be taking to the woods in search of the creatures of the underworld....that is those who live beneath things...

Heritage Center Open House

The Keweenaw Heritage Center at St. Anne's Church on 5th Street in Calumet will be holding their annual Open House on Thursday, July 1 beginning at 7 pm.

There will be a reception for the Grand Opening of the Summer Exhibit Stories From the Woods with a program & music with Dan Truckey.

The community of Dollar Bay starts off its 4th of July celebration on Friday, July 2 with free horse & wagon rides at 6:30 and a street dance at Pioneer Park at 7:30. Snacks and refreshments will be available at the fire department stand at the fire hall. On Saturday, July 3 the VFW Memorial Service takes place at 11 am followed by the parade at noon. Children's games will begin at 1:30 pm behind the fire hall and the Franz Family Ministries will perform at 2 pm at Pioneer Park. The snack & refreshment stand, the pasty sale and the chicken BBQ all begin at 10:30.

Hidden Mammals and Owls

The McLain State Park Exploring Nature Program presents "Hidden Mammals" at 3 pm on Friday, July 2 at McLain State Park on M-203 between Hancock & Calumet.

We will be searching for the mammals of Michigan that are hidden in the wood on this hike. You will be able to feel the fur of a fox, marten, weasel, raccoon, red squirrel, black bear, and deer as well as examine some skulls and antlers after we find them.

Programs last approximately one hour and commence at the main shelter/picnic area of the park unless otherwise stated. Programs are free to the public, but a motor vehicle permit is required for entry to the park.

The McLain State Park Exploring Nature Program presents "Owls" at 7:30 pm on Friday, July 2 at McLain State Park on M-203 between Hancock & Calumet.

Learn about the different species of owls found in Michigan. You will be able to recognize them by sight and the sounds some of them make. We will be going into the woods to call to them...you never know "whooooo" will answer.

Lake Linden 4th/Fireworks

The Village of Lake Linden will have their fireworks display on Friday, July 2 at dusk in the village park. Live music, food and refreshments will be available in the park from 6:30 to 10:30 pm. On Saturday, July 3 there will be a parade at 9:30 am with live music, activities, games, food & refreshments at the Park throughout the day. The Children's Parade begins at 6:30 and there will be a street dance at the Lakes Lounge.

Pine Mountain Music Festival

South Range 4th/Fireworks

The Village of South Range begins its 4th of July Celebration with a flag raising at the Community Building at 8 am. Children's races begin at 12:30 am at the Range Veterans Memorial Park. A wood carving expo will be held from 1 to 3 pm on Main Street. Sample and tour the Keweenaw Brewing Company from noon to 4 pm or attend the Carrousel Winery Tasting Extravaganza from noon to 3 pm. The parade is held at 3 pm on Main Street, followed by a Cruise-In Classic Car Show. At 4:30 pm there will be Little League baseball games and more children's games at Veterans Memorial Park. Food and refreshments will be served throughout the Village. The fireworks begin at dusk at the Range Veterans Memorial Park.
